PROF. TONY LABRIOLA
TONY LABRIOLA is an IIAS Fellow and Distinguished Professor Emeritus. He is a three time EMMY award winning video producer/director for his work in children’s media programming. He has also received international awards for his educational programs, documentaries and programs on public affairs. He served as delegate and organizer to two World Summits on Television for Children.
He has written numerous scholarly articles and was a keynote speaker for IIAS 2014-2017. His research interests include the use and synergistic effects of new media technologies, embodied cognition in the arts, social media, aboriginal perception in design, semiotics and its relation to image, genre, and virtual communities in educational environments.
Labriola is also a producer/director/designer/actor in theater. He has written and premiered three new musical plays. In 2012, he directed the British premiere of the Pulitzer Prize winning play, Rabbit Hole, by David Lindsay-Abaire.
